According to the National Water Commission (Conagua), there is a possibility of hail in Mexico City and the State of Mexico by the afternoon of Monday, February 17. The environment will be warm with overcast skies, leading to rain and showers. Fog banks are also expected with cool temperatures in the region and very cold temperatures ranging from -5 to 0 degrees in high areas of the State of Mexico.
Conagua indicates that there will be south winds of 15 to 30 kilometers per hour, with gusts of up to 40 kilometers per hour. Regarding temperatures, a minimum of 11 to 13 degrees and a maximum of 22 to 24 are forecast for Mexico City, while in Toluca, State of Mexico, minimum values are expected to be 4 to 6 degrees and maximum values of 19 to 21 degrees.
This forecast is attributed to the presence of cold front number 27, which will extend from the east to the south of the Gulf of Mexico and will interact with a low-pressure channel in the southeastern part of the country. This interaction will cause heavy rains in Veracruz, Oaxaca, Chiapas, and Tabasco, as well as in the Yucatan Peninsula. In the morning, "Norte" winds with gusts of 70 to 90 kilometers per hour are expected in the south of Veracruz, the isthmus, and the Gulf of Tehuantepec, but they are expected to decrease throughout the afternoon.
Additionally, humidity from the Pacific Ocean is expected to enter, generating rain and showers in central, western, and southern areas of the country. On the other hand, an anticyclonic circulation at mid-levels of the atmosphere will promote a warm to very hot environment with temperatures exceeding 35 degrees in western Mexico.
